The Kiwanis Club of Windsor was formed in 1918 after WWI to assist widows of fallen soldiers with food and clothing for themselves and their children. 2018 marks our our 100 year anniversary!
This good work continued until the end of WWII and, in 1947, well-to-do families of returning soldiers bought the land and opened the Kiwanis Sunshine Point Camp for children of fallen soldiers from WWII. The camp has evolved over the years, and today opens its arms to all children, especially economically disadvantaged from 7 to 14 years of age in Windsor and Essex County so that they all may experience camp.
Sunshine Point Camp is located on Lake Erie between Colchester and Kingsville. The camp even offers free bus rides for those who don't have their own transportation to the camp. The camp consists of seven acres, and it has a mess hall with large kitchen, six cabins, counsellor cabin, pool and plenty of room for campfires and places to roam.
